Scholarships for Internal Students

Aim

To promote academic excellence, international mindedness, all round personal development and community service in Victoria Shanghai Academy, scholarships will be awarded to students of excellent academic results as well as of outstanding performance at other areas of the curriculum to commend and recognize their efforts and achievements.

 

Types of Scholarships

1.         Academic Excellence

2.         Diploma Excellence

3.         Improvement/Performance Excellence

4.         Summer Experience

 

1.         Academic Excellence Scholarships

Year 3 to 5

Top students with the highest scores in ISA tests who have also demonstrated high achievement in Chinese, as well as having shown adherence to school policies and rules will be awarded full-fee scholarships for the following academic year.

Year 6 to 9  

Top students in all round excellent academic performance and good conduct will be awarded full-fee scholarship for the following academic year.

Year 10

Top students in all round excellent academic performance and good conduct will be awarded full-fee scholarships for the following two academic years subject to a review at the end of Year 11.

 

 

2.         Diploma Excellence Scholarships

Based on the IB DP official results, one-off scholarships will be awarded to students who have reached

44 to 45 points    

HK$ 80,000

40 to 43 points

HK$ 40,000

the Academy’s IB DP average point to 39 points   

HK$ 20,000

      

 

3.  Improvement/Performance Excellence Scholarships   

At the end of the academic year, teachers will nominate from the Primary and Secondary Sections students with outstanding performance and contributions in Sport, Music, Art/Visual Art, Drama, Leadership and Service & Action for the Improvement/Performance Excellence Awards. These will be half-fee Scholarships for the following academic year. In addition, a Year 4 student moving on to Year 5 will be nominated for the Justin Chan Scholarship. Supplementary evidence showing the student’s achievement and talents in the respective areas outside of school may be required to support the nomination. Maintenance of this scholarship is dependent on continued engagement and contributions in the area in which the scholarship is awarded.

 

4.   Summer Experience Scholarships

  • Students whose summer programmes are meaningful, challenging, creative, highly competitive and prestigious can apply for the Summer Experience Scholarships.
  • Applicants will be required to attend interviews with the Principals or Scholarship Panel.
  • Scholarships up to a maximum of HK$20,000 will be awarded in October to students on    the successful completion of their summer experience and detail reports supported by evidence and data.   
  • Secondary students awarded the scholarships will be invited to present their experience at school assemblies.
