Information Technology

Technology is an important part of inquiry-based learning, since so much of today's information technology is aimed at answering questions and providing up-to-date information.

Students at VSA receive instruction in the IT laboratory every week. Here, students are taught the skills necessary to enable them to utilize information technology across the curriculum.  These skills focus on four key elements:

Enquiring, Creating, Communicating and Operating

Students are encouraged to use a range of software and Web 2.0 applications in support of their work across the curriculum. They are required to be responsible when using technology and receive lessons on safe and ethical use.

In addition to scheduled classes, students have access to classroom computers, laptops and tablets. Mobile technologies are also used, with sets of IPod touch devices and programmable robots available to staff and students.

The PTA fully supports the use of technology in school and makes regular contributions to enhance technology provision.
