Student Expectations

 

The curriculum at VSA is based on the IB Learner Profile which encourages students to become:

  • inquirers—their natural curiosity has been nurtured and they actively enjoy learning
  • thinkers—they exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to solving complex problems
  • communicators—they receive and express ideas and information confidently in more than one language

Students Rights and Responsibilities

All students at VSA have the right to:

  • learn in a peaceful environment
  • feel physically and emotionally safe
  • feel a sense of belonging at the school
  • be able to offer their thoughts and ideas without fear of ridicule or violence
  • receive respect from all members of the school community
  • feel their property will be safe, respected, and protected at school
  • be autonomous, independent, and resourceful thinkers
  • be free of peer pressure

All students at VSA have the responsibility to:

  • respect the rights and property of others
  • treat all members of the VSA community as an equal
  • dress in the correct school uniform
  • come to class prepared and on time
  • attend and be positively engaged in all classes
  • use and share all school facilities appropriately and respectfully
  • always work and behave honestly and fairly
  • complete all homework and assignments on time
  • contribute positively to the school community
  • help teachers, staff, and other students in an appropriate manner
  • follow the direction of all teachers, administrators, and support staff of the Primary and Secondary sections of VSA

Bullying

We are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our pupils so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere.  Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at our school.
