VSA is inviting applications for the following position(s):

For the School Year 2021-22:

 

1. Head of Chinese - Native Mandarin Speaking

• Master’s Degree with professional qualifications in Chinese language education
• MYP and DP Chinese teaching experience, including both Chinese A and Chinese B courses
• Documented experience as Head of Chinese department
• Extensive curriculum development experience
• An in-depth understanding of Chinese languages, history and cultural heritage
• Native Mandarin speaker with an excellent command of English
• Experience in a bilingual work place
• Team-orientated and collaborative
• A commitment to student centred inquiry based learning
• Enthusiasm for pastoral care and building strong relationships with students; this includes homeroom teacher and PSHE responsibilities
• A growth-mindset looking to continually improve
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to a new cultural environment

2. Chinese Teacher - Native Mandarin Speaking

• Bachelor’s Degree with professional qualifications in Chinese language education
• Native Mandarin speaker with an excellent command of English
• An in-depth understanding of Chinese languages and cultural heritage
• Experience in a bilingual work place
• Familiarity with and ideally experience teaching IB (MYP and DP)
• A commitment to student centred inquiry based learning
• Enthusiasm for pastoral care and building strong relationships with students; this includes homeroom teacher and PSHE responsibilities
• A growth-mindset looking to continually improve
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to a new cultural environment

3. Learning Enhancement Teacher 

• Ideally a postgraduate qualification in working with students with special needs and gifted and talented students
• A formal teaching qualification
• A commitment to the philosophy of inclusion
• Experience in supporting children with Special Educational Needs
• Ability to work collaboratively with specialist subject teachers to improve the learning outcomes of these students
• Ability to track the progress of individual students, set improvement targets, maintain up-to-date records and design appropriate interventions to help these students in reducing the achievement gap
• Ability to work in collaboration with parents and caregivers
• Familiarity with and ideally experience teaching IB MYP
• A commitment to student centred inquiry based learning
• Enthusiasm for pastoral care and building strong relationships with students; this includes homeroom teacher and PSHE responsibilities
• A growth-mindset looking to continually improve
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to a new cultural environment
• Although the primary responsibility of this role is working with SEN students, there could be other teaching responsibilities, including homeroom teacher

Supply Teacher

• To be included in the supply teachers’ pool and will be working on an ad hoc basis when required
• Registered teacher with the Hong Kong Education Bureau
• Commitment to student-centred and inquiry-based learning
• Knowledge of relevant IB programmes (MYP, DP) an advantage
• Applicants must have the right to work in Hong Kong
