At the start of the Chinese New Year holiday, some I&S Year 8 students chose to be engaged in the Financial Literacy Workshop - JA Planning with Purpose. This is the first time the I&S Department has started this Financial Literacy Workshops for MYP students and is line with the Year 8 Business Unit which focuses on ATL skills such as Creativity and Innovation.

In this workshop, JA Company HK has engaged business volunteers from Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) 安聯投資.  Allianz Global Investors is a global investment management firm with offices in over 20 locations worldwide. Y08P Christine Bao En REN gave this feedback,

"The financial course was very educational, and the instructors were very patient and all experts in their field of knowledge. There were mini-games to make the course more fun as well as informational. All of the contents we covered are very applicable in real life, including budget planning, career goals, etc... Special thanks to Mr. Chong for organizing this event, including emailing the attendees on the day of the event for the reminder, discussing with JA HK, the organizer."

Y8H Edward Kwok reflected that:

“I’m so glad to have the opportunity to understand different industries of business including accounting, finance, project management, information technology (IT), human resources (HR), marketing, international business, logistics, which help me to prepare for various industries. In general, business is very useful because it is a culture and a society. They help us to create innovations and make important technological advancements. It motivated employees to reach a common goal, so I think business is very fun to learn and business can build up knowledge that we never know.”

Y08T Yat Hin Adrian NG added,

"Today I have learned how to save money(options which you can do to save money and set self goals and "you can cook you own food instead to buy take away food."
