We take great pride and pleasure in announcing that Jessie Wong (Year 9) and Allis Lai (Year 12) have been named one of the ten awardees in junior and senior categories respectively at the Hong Kong Island Outstanding Students Award 2020 among an initial pool of about 140 nominees from 71 Schools.

The Hong Kong Island Outstanding Students Award, organized by the Hong Kong Island School Heads Association (HKISHA), aims to commend Secondary School students with outstanding academic, extra-curricular and community service achievements at and contributions to the school and the community.

Congratulations to Jessie and Allis!

"I am deeply honoured to have the opportunity to attend this prestigious competition, and to be awarded the title of an Outstanding Student in Hong Kong Island. Though this may just be a brief moment in the spotlight with trophies and certificates, I believe that it recognises my determination and commitment over the years in improving my performance in numerous areas, as well as in enacting positive change by practising awareness and volunteering.

This competition has brought extensive exposure to the diversity of excelling students around Hong Kong. The interview discussions broadened my perspective on different approaches to a given topic, and the numerous ways to express one's opinions. The candidates' strong senses of belonging and dedication greatly encouraged me to further develop on my knowledge and skills acquisition by consistently putting forth tenacious effort to strive towards excellence."

"Believing school to be about a lot more than academics, I have always strived to lead a balanced school life. Other than being part of the Badminton School Team and the Maths Team, I sought to give back to my community. This drove me to become a Senior Prefect, volunteer at a community center, and run for the Student Council, becoming the Head of Finance of our eight-member cabinet. I developed collaboration and leadership skills, and my experience further pushed me to become co-chairs of multiple clubs. Balancing all this with academics was challenging, but winning competitions, witnessing improvement in the students I tutor, and seeing the student body enjoy our events was motivating. These experiences are all cherished memories of my secondary years. I am grateful to my community for the opportunities I had, and am honoured to represent both my school and the Southern District for this award."
