Counselling

In line with our mission of supporting students to become happy, healthy and accomplished, VSA’s guidance and counselling services aim to help every individual student to reach their full potential in all aspects of school life. We provide:

Individual and group guidance and counselling
Parent information sessions and workshops
Coaching and mentoring programmes

Learning Support

University Counselling

The goal of the University Counselling Office (UCO) is to help place all leaving students in a university suitable for them academically and socially. Finding a good and proper match between student and university is our most important goal. The UCO holds an annual University Fair for students and parents to meet with university representatives from around the world, as well as various events throughout the year to help student and parents with the university selection and application process. It maintains a library of university publications, schedules visits to the school by university representatives throughout the year and participates in professional conferences. Our work includes:

Advising on IB diploma course selection
Assisting students in university program selection,
Advising on writing personal statements and application essays
Reviews of applications
Writing student recommendations and preparing transcripts
Assisting with mock entrance interviews.
Advises on and conducting standardized tests

Transcript Service

Transcripts

Transcripts can be provided for school or university applications. If a student has already left VSA for more than a school year, there will be an administrative fee of HK$100, payable by cheque to ‘Victoria Shanghai Academy.’ Please note that transcripts are only considered official by institutions if they have the school chop and are in a sealed envelope with a chop. VSA can arrange for delivery of transcripts via courier if needed; however, the parent or student requesting the transcript is responsible for all courier costs.

Reference Letters

There are two types of reference letter which can be provided: 1) A Letter of Proof stating when the student began at VSA and the year grade he/she was in. This open letter can be used to show the student is regarded at VSA and is directly passed to the requesting student or parent. For secondary, please email sec_studentaffairs@vsa.edu.hk. 2) A more detailed letter of academic ability will be confidential and will only be sent directly to institutions. This policy also covers requests for reference letters for summer school programme applications. For Secondary, please email sec-schoolreference@vsa.edu.hk.

Invigilation of Exams for Overseas Schools

Catering

The school cafeteria, cafe and kiosks are operated by Chartwells PLC. The main cafeteria is equipped with an on-site kitchen, providing freshly cooked breakfast, snacks and lunches. A Quality Assurance Manager and dietician ensure the hygiene and nutritional value of meals.

Medical

The school employs a full-time qualified nurse to oversee all aspects of students' health.

Transport

We partner with a highly reputable bus operator to provide over 30 school bus routes to different parts of Hong Kong.
